NOTE: If you are aged under 7 you are not required to audition and will be cast in the show.

We will announce the cast list before the end of term 3.

Production rehearsals start in Term 4

Audition Materials

  2. Learn both MALEFICENT and BRIAR ROSE songs and lines from the tracks and scripts below.

Don’t worry if you can’t memorise all of it. We will be there to help you along the way.

We want you to HAVE FUN and show us lots of CHARACTER when you audition.

Everyone at New Thing Academy can be in the show, even if you can’t attend auditions.

*Aged 7+ only need attend auditions

What to expect at auditions

We only need to audition the lead roles:

Maleficent
Princess Aurora/Briar Rose
Merryweather
Fauna
Flora
Prince Phillip
King Stefan
King Hubert
Queen Stefanie

These roles will not be required to audition:

(They will be cast by the production team)

Loyal Subjects
Guards
Goons (including Flumpfel, Pest, Blather & Stench)
Animals of the forest

  • At auditions we will ask you to sing along with the backing tracks so we can asses your voice.

  • You can use the score, if you need to, but try and learn the short songs as best you can before the day.

  • Even if you want to go for another role that isn’t Maleficent or Briar Rose, singing those songs will show us what we need to know.

  • We will also ask you to read the lines for Maleficent and Briar Rose too.

  • Download and print the sections from the script above, and highlight your lines to make it easier!

  • Try you best to be really evil when being Maleficent and sweet and lovely when being Briar Rose.
